The Clinical Chemistry Service
The laboratory Clinical Chemistry service in the Sperrin-Lakeland Trust, delivered at the Laboratories at Tyrone County Hospital, Omagh and at the Erne Hospital, Enniskillen. Both the Tyrone County Hospital [157 beds] and the Erne Hospital [226 beds] are acute hospitals providing a limited range of acute specialties. Obstetrics/gynaecology and inpatient paediatrics are based at the Erne site while a sub regional renal unit is based at Tyrone County Hospital.
The Department of Health [NI] has recently issued proposals to concentrate acute hospital services within the existing Sperrin-Lakeland Trust in a new hospital at or to the north of Enniskillen with an enhanced local hospital in Omagh.
The Service is administered jointly with Altnavegin Area Hospital
